Westport awarded US$2.25 million to support development of next generation heavy-duty LNG fuel system

Westport has been awarded US$2.25 million in funding from the South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD), the California Energy Commission (CEC) and the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach to support the development, demonstration, commercialization and certification of Westport’s heavy-duty LNG fuel system.

Westport receives Australian Certification of 2008 LNG Engine

Over 100,000 kms achieved in demonstration fleet

The Australian Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government has certified Westport’s High Pressure Direct Injection (HPDI) liquefied natural gas (LNG) fuel system adapted to the 2008 Cummins ISX heavy-duty engine to the 2008 Australian Design Rules (ADR 80/02 and ADR 30/01).

Kenworth to produce Liquefied Natural Gas Vehicles

Westport to supply LNG fuel systems through new assembly centre in British Columbia

Kenworth Truck Company will expand its presence in the growing market for environmentally friendly, liquefied natural gas (LNG) vehicles by beginning production of Kenworth T800 LNG trucks at its manufacturing facility in Renton, Washington, in 2009. Under an exclusive agreement with Westport, Kenworth will use Westport’s LNG fuel system technology.
