Social Responsibility
The social impacts of Westport’s operations are important to our decision-making, policies and practices. Key among them are the quality of the work environment Westporters enjoy, and support and involvement with the communities where we operate.

We strive to provide a healthy work environment characterized by:
  • respectful relationships,
  • effective dialogue, training and advancement opportunities,
  • stringent occupational health and safety requirements,
  • respect for human rights and diversity, and
  • competitive salaries and benefits which include an annual bonus plan and employee share purchase plan

The calibre of the workforce we have been able to attract is the best testament to our success.

Our expectations for individual integrity and ethical, moral and legal conduct are outlined in a Westport Code of Business Conduct Adobe PDF document, which is reviewed and signed annually by all employees and directors. We have an Ethics Hotline, through which employees can raise concerns about corporate conduct (with assurances of protection from reprisals).

Our support for our communities is multi-faceted and largely employee-driven. All Westport employees are given 16 hours of paid leave per year to volunteer with a charitable organization of their choice. In 2006, Westport employees donated volunteer hours to Glen Eden Multimodal Institute, the Union Gospel Mission, the Greater Vancouver Foodbank, the Surrey Foodbank and the Vancouver Resource Society.

Westport is also a proud supporter of the United Way of the Lower Mainland and holds a spirited and employee-driven workplace campaign each year.
