Position Responsibilities
As an Applications Engineer, you will apply your talents to developing and releasing engine and vehicle integration specifications for HPDI fuel systems. You will be instrumental in the integration and optimization of modules specific to our natural gas fuel system.
Some of you responsibilities will include the following:
- Interact with customers and vehicle OEMs to understand requirements
- Create shop orders where modules are assembled leading to the construction of a complete product

Position Requirements
The ideal candidate possesses a Bachelor's or advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering plus a minimum of three years experience with precision component and or product design in high-pressure gas, cryogenics, hydraulics, or automotive fuel systems and their components. You will also have experience in a team or product group where vehicle design was a key component. You will have the ability to direct and lead engineering resources to deliver product specs per plan and on budget. Successful candidates will have experience with QS 9000 and ISO/TS 16949 including working knowledge of APQP and PPAP.
Candidates must have hands-on experience with manufacturing design and assembly and must be proficient in 3-D modeling software applications specifically, PRO-Engineer, modeling tools for FEA (ANSYS), hydraulic system design, thermodynamic modeling, and fluid dynamic modeling. You will also have a demonstrated capability to understand and apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing. You will have strong problem solving abilities, the ability to share knowledge through training others and exceptional communications skills. Some travel to China, Europe, and throughout North America will be required.

candidate will have strong background in the automotive (trucking) industry, with experience in areas of customer service and service engineering. This position requires initiative and a willingness to build and continually improve the customer experience and dealer network infrastructure in Eastern Australia and Tasmania.
Position Responsibilities
This position will be responsible for the following:
- Providing support to distributors, dealers and end customers to co-ordinate delivery, maintenance, repair of HPDI trucks through development of the Westport service network.
- Working with local partners and service providers to ensure timely and effective support for HPDI trucks
- Provide detailed issue reports and work with product Engineering to resolve issues and to ensure ongoing customer satisfaction
- Frequent meeting with customers and partners to ensure good communication and customer satisfaction
- Tracking, evaluating and reporting on HPDI fleet operations, reliability metrics and repair incidents
- Participation in validation of customer documentation such as work instructions, repair procedures, and troubleshooting manuals.
- Providing and developing technical and warranty training on HPDI service, operation and maintenance to dealer network and end users
- Assisting with warranty claim administration and ensuring all service work follows Westport procedures and controls
- Representing Westport Service in technical forums, shows and providing sales and marketing assistance in Australia.
Qualifications & Experience
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or equivalent
- A minimum of 5 years experience in a senior service leadership role
- Strong mechanical aptitude & knowledge of heavy duty trucks and the Australian market
- Familiarity with automotive workshops, OEM procedures and processes and previous service and maintenance experience is essential
- Must have excellent organizational, planning and scheduling abilities demonstrating the ability to efficiently manage priorities and customer expectations through interaction with others.
